Fascinating review of seasonal folklore. The relics of the Three Kings are supposed to lie up the road from me in Cologne, Helena having taken them to Milan, whence they were brought to Cologne by Frederick Barbarossa.
Not for a very long time, I think. Nowadays there tends to be a queue outside, but if I get in a chance in the next while I'll nip in and refresh my memory.
As well as that you've got the Golden Chamber with the remains of St Ursula and her virgins... It took me years to get to like Cologne, but it's an enjoyable summer city (and at all events to be avoided at Carnival).

Thank you! Yes, those relics travelled a lot even after the death of their owners, didn't they? Have you seen the shrine in Cologne?

Cologne was already on my list of places I'd like to visit. Maybe I need to push it further up the list.

That's useful advice! I know our son really enjoyed the city (and didn't go at Carnival time.)
